Hello! Thank you for visiting my blog! Here you will get to know me—the “sweet girl” behind the dessert tables. The girl who loves to create. The proud mama who loves her boys to no bounds and the wife that thanks her lucky stars every day to have her husband, her best friend & business partner, by her side. Whether you visiting our blog or the first time or have stopped by before, please know that I’m incredibly grateful that you are here and look forward to getting to know you. So sit back, grab a large cup of coffee (or cake pop) and enjoy!

St. Pete Beach Wedding by Carrie Wildes Photography and Flawless Occasions

It is a happy, happy start of the week thanks in part to Candace and Thomas’ wedding that is just bursting with a gorgeous fuchsia, pink and black color scheme, sophistication, and an awesome vendor team. Lets see, we have design and styling by Beth Carrick of Flawless Occasionswho ALWAYS creates the most elegant affairs as well as crazy-amazing photography by Carrie Wildes and we can’t forget about those gorgeous florals by Dana Dineen.

Candace and Thomas were so great to work withthey had a very defined vision of what they wanted their wedding day to entail. Every detail for their dessert table thought out, created and incredibly fun to bring to life. Most importantly it was a beautiful representation of this adorable couple and their personalities.

We told you it was going to be a happy week!

Catching up on some blogging here! We were thrilled to be a cover-feature on Style Me Pretty a few weeks ago. This was an easy, laid back engagement shoot that we were asked to style for Limelight Photography. More and more we are finding that our clients are looking for imaginative and creative ways to show their personalities and still feel like themselves!

Of course, when you are working with a photographer that just “gets it,” that is always great. Rebecca from Limelight is always inspiring to collaborate it. She gave me a description of the couple, what they were looking for and we took it from there.

Enjoy and have a lovely weekend!!!

Avila Country Club with Limelight Photography

Hope everyone is having a lovely day!

We’ve had a long term love affair with Limelight Photography …with some of our most favorite dessert tables coming from behind their lens (here and here). Well, when Limelight’s amazing skills get paired with a our bride, Enid’s super glam approach, we always get super excited to share it with you.

And this one had us the moment we saw the insanely beautiful, “bling” fuchsia and platinum color palette and the glow coming from every image.

Real Wedding (sneak peek): Ashley and Scott

Okay, so I am officially making up for my blogging-drought (and cleaning out my camera).

Having a wedding at the Florida Aquarium just might be the best idea ever, but the coolness definitely doesn’t stop there. We are also head over heels enamored with how adorable Ashley and Scott are and how great they were to work with. The wedding colors of yellow and blue are simply to die for, and let’s not forget about that delicious looking dessert bar we put together for them. Being a fellow gator, I’m especially biased to the straw tags we created for them (a little suprise from us to them).  Go Gators!

This is a busy time of year for my fellow photographers but professional photos coming soon. Promise!

Enjoy the Labor Day weekend everyone!!

Renaissance Vinoy Wedding by Limelight Photography

At Chic Sweets, we are so not afraid of color around here. In fact we say the more the merrier, and apparently we aren’t the only ones with a penchant for going outside the box of usual color palettes.   I believe we found our match with our next couple, Colleen and Jared.  Not only did they integrate their wedding with every ounce of coral, ivory and apple green they could muster, they also made sure to have every possible candy you can imagine at their dessert table.
Shot by the amazing Christi from Limelight Photography, this Renaissance Vinoy wedding has a personality of its own and we were in love with every inch of it. From the poms that we assembled from our favorite Etsy seller, Nai from Party Poms, to the wonderful Paper Source Lokta print that used to line our vessals, everything just really came together.

Some other reception decor:
I couldn’t help but fall in love with this completely adorable wedding that Aaron over at Aaron Lockwood Photography sent our way. Aside from being held at one of the most fabulous St. Petersburg venues, the Museum of Fine Arts, it’s also 100% personality. Which you know we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE here at Chic Sweets.
The design behind this dessert table was all about featuring the colors that I adore: shades of pink, coral, and yellow infused the table and reception decor. They created a wonderful monogram and to make the design a focal point, it was blown up behind a curtain of ribbons, varying in different widths. The table was filled with different types of their favorite candies–gummi bears, gum balls, rock candy, etc. And to top the table off we added some adorable marshmallow pops, echoing the bright colors.
Thanks again to Aaron for the lovely pics! I also added a few of our own from my amateur-photo taking skills.
Also special, special thanks to Sandy Rule from Sandy Rule Events for putting all the pieces together for this fantastic wedding and to Conceptbait for the lighting, draping and decor (whew!).
Happy Monday!

Candy Buffet sayings!

Time and time again I get asked about candy buffet sayings. There are quite a few out there that are used quite frequently:

1. Sweet Dreams
2. Love is Sweet! Enjoy a Treat!
3. Enjoy the Sugar Rush.
4. Love is Sweet!
5. Use the scoop, Use what you like. Leave some for others. Be polite.
6. Step right up to our Candy Buffet. Its a Sweet addition to a wonderful day!
7. Sweet Shoppe. [Insert wedding date]
8. Serving you a little treat, just to say we think you’re sweet!

In addition to these sayings, I also recommend that you come up with something personal-it doesn’t have to rhyme and it will be unique!

Gourmet Candy Buffets–what is the big deal?

For one, buffets are monstrously popular. The Knot recently voted candy buffets as one of the top trends for 2009. They are fun, interactive and engage guests more than just having the favor sitting on the table.

And two, while some are a feast for the eyes, others seem to fall short of the heights their planners must have hoped for.

So what’s the secret?

Here’s number one: buying enough candy. Sounds simplistic, but it’s key to having a great buffet. The first thing I tell brides — you really can’t do candy as a hard commodity. It’s more a decorative element. They’ll say, ‘I’m having 100 guests, and I want to give each guest 1/2 pound, so I guess I need so many pounds of candy. Sounds great, and it might be enough to actually satisfy your guests, but visually it won’t be enough to make a presence.

I tell my clients, instead of looking at candy by the numbers, take an aesthetic approach. You choose the flowers because they’re beautiful. The candy buffet should be too.
